Description:
Our client is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to apply advanced analytics techniques and scientific principles to support decision-making, strategic planning and other business applications. The role requires proficiency in data science methodologies and tools, as well as a deep understanding of data management frameworks and ethical considerations.
Responsibilities:

Conduct analysis to define and solve complex data problems using various sources.

Apply Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, and predictive analytics for problem-solving and modelling.

Create and maintain test data, scenarios, and testing plans.

Advise on data generation, analysis methods and outcome interpretation.

Ensure ethical use of data and compliance with legislation and policy frameworks.

Manage data-related risks, balancing privacy/security with data utility.

Build relationships and engage stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions.

Resolve issues using sound judgement and professional expertise.

Mentor less experienced team members and share technical knowledge.

Stay current on data domain knowledge and emerging trends.
Requirements:

Proficiency in Machine Learning, data classification, clustering, data mining, and data visualisation.

Experience with Python, ElasticSearch, Linux, and Apache NiFi.

Familiarity with Australian policy and regulatory frameworks for data.

Essential Criteria:

Data modelling and design (Level 4 - SFIA): Investigates enterprise data requirements with some complexity and ambiguity. Plans modelling/design activities using suitable techniques. Guides others in use of data structures and components.

Data science (Level 5 - SFIA): Plans and drives all stages of data science/analytics solution development. Provides expert advice, chooses data sources and techniques, and reviews tool value and application. Contributes to related policies and standards.

Data visualisation (Level 4 - SFIA): Uses various visualisation techniques to design and automate content delivery. Selects appropriate methods and contributes to visual experimentation.

Programming/software development (Level 3 - SFIA): Designs, tests, and documents moderately complex programs/scripts. Applies standards, reports progress, and resolves development issues. Participates in code reviews.
