Duration: Initial 12 months with 24-month extension

Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Objectstar Software Engineer (Developer) to support the design, development, testing and maintenance of software systems and applications. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, contribute to complex software development initiatives and ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions in accordance with established development, security and governance standards.

The role requires expertise in Objectstar Development, COBOL and JCL and the ability to work collaboratively with architects, analysts, testers, scrum teams and other stakeholders to deliver software solutions that meet business and technical requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Create software and technical designs for the realisation of complex development solutions
  • Develop high-quality code and support the long-term maintenance of product code bases
  • Provide technical advice on software development and maintenance activities
  • Provide go-live support and maintenance for complex developments
  • Perform analysis, design, software development, prototyping, unit testing and maintenance activities
  • Undertake analysis of technical requirements and support project evaluations with proposed solutions
  • Ensure compliance with endorsed software development methodologies
  • Identify, investigate and resolve complex ICT issues
  • Assess, communicate, monitor and control risk
  • Manage and prioritise workloads to meet business objectives within specified timeframes
  • Develop and deliver projects within the assigned area of responsibility
  • Perform cost analysis activities as required
  • Provide technical leadership and contribute to software planning, development and construction activities

  • Demonstrated experience in Objectstar Development
  • Experience with COBOL and JCL
  • Experience designing, developing, testing and maintaining software systems and applications

  • Ability to work within established software development lifecycles, deployment procedures and security frameworks

  • Systems integration and build: Level 4 (SFIA)
    • Provides technical expertise to enable the configuration of system components and equipment for systems testing.
    • Collaborates with technical teams to develop and agree system integration plans and report on progress.
    • Defines complex/new integration builds.
    • Ensures that integration test environments are correctly configured.
    • Designs, performs and reports results of tests of the integration build.
    • Identifies and documents system integration components for recording in the configuration management system.
    • Recommends and implements improvements to processes and tools.
  • Testing: Level 3 (SFIA)
    • Designs test cases and test scripts under own direction, mapping back to pre-determined criteria, recording and reporting test outcomes.
    • Participates in requirement, design and specification reviews, and uses this information to design test plans and test conditions.
    • Applies agreed standards to specify and perform manual and automated testing.
    • Automates testing tasks and builds test coverage through existing or new infrastructure.
    • Analyses and reports on test activities, results, issues and risks.
