Description:

Our client is seeking suitably qualified and experienced DevOps Engineers to support infrastructure, cloud and security activities. The role will involve designing, implementing and maintaining Azure cloud platforms and services, developing automated infrastructure and application deployment solutions, and supporting applications within Linux environments.

The successful candidates will work within established DevOps practices, contribute to cloud foundations and security improvements, collaborate with technical and business stakeholders, and transfer skills and knowledge to internal staff.

• Responsibilities:
• Implement technical solutions in cloud to facilitate migration of applications.
• Design infrastructure solutions to host applications currently on premise.
• Develop automated solutions to deploy infrastructure and applications to cloud.
• Work within DevOps practices of the wider program team.
• Input features and design of cloud foundations.
• Develop new standard features and automation for standard customer cloud environments.
• Contribute to Product Management practices to develop new features.
• Contribute to agile/scrum ceremonies to develop, plan, and prioritise new feature delivery.
• Support Java applications running in a Linux environment.
• Undertake performance tuning.
• Work in a diverse team across a wide range of different technologies and systems.
• Automate processes and build self-service capabilities.
• Deliver and build services and technologies including but not limited to Microsoft Azure.
• Lead and coordinate cloud development activities between relevant stakeholders and technical resources, both internal and external.
• Periodically collaborate to develop and implement operational improvements.
• Leverage experience with cloud native tools to review metrics and monitor the health/utilisation of cloud services.
• Design, implement and maintain the security of Azure cloud platform and services.
• Implement new security measures on the Azure cloud.
• Collaborate with developers and sustainment teams to create strategies for improving security.
• Script and automate security processes using Microsoft Azure DevOps.
• Set direction for the use of Azure role-based access control (Azure RBAC), Microsoft Defender for Cloud, administrator protection strategy and Azure Policy to govern Azure resources.
• Manage vulnerability scanning tools to identify security risk in software code or platforms.
• Respond to security incidents if required.
• Work with architects, administrators and developers to plan and implement solutions that meet security and compliance requirements.
• Ensure Azure deployments are secure and compliant with industry and regulatory standards, with a primary focus on infrastructure work that improves security posture.
• Transfer skills and knowledge to internal staff and ensure appropriate documentation is maintained in accordance with applicable recordkeeping policies and practices.

Requirements:

• Assist the infrastructure team.
• Design, implement and maintain the security of Azure cloud platforms and services.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external parties, including senior stakeholders.
• Share technical knowledge across the team and provide support to other parts of the program.
• Obtain the required organisational suitability assessment prior to commencement.
• Hold an Australian Government security clearance to a minimum of Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1), or be willing to undergo and obtain an NV1 clearance.
• Complete any required confidentiality or non-disclosure documentation prior to commencement.

Essential Criteria:

• Demonstrated experience in utilising DevOps in complex data and analytics platforms - minimum 5 years
• Proven ability to facilitate business processes to enhance and deliver new capabilities, including system design, development, modelling, governance, and documentation - minimum 5 years
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Cloud Administration and Azure DevOps/DevSecOps
• Strong hands-on experience with Linux administration
• Developing and maintaining IaC scripts using Ansible/Powershell/Terraform/YAML

Desirable Criteria:

• Previous hands-on experience with web application development Hands-on experience with Kubernetes Whole of life costs to the Commonwealth
