Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1

Duration: Initial 12 months with up to 2 x 12-month extensions

Working arrangements: The agency requires these services at the agency’s premises in: Canberra. Adelaide, Brisbane, and Melbourne will also be considered. Contractors must work from the specified office location for a minimum of 6 weeks before a WFHA will be considered

Description:

Our client is seeking a Senior Cloud & Automation Engineer to support the automation and management of ICT infrastructure and applications. The successful candidate will work closely with business units to provide robust infrastructure solutions aligned with best practices and vendor requirements. This role plays a critical part in developing and maintaining the organisation's VMWare Aria platforms, ensuring efficient and secure digital service delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and support the automation of ICT infrastructure and applications

  • Manage and maintain the VMWare Aria Automation (vRA) platform

  • Design blueprints and workflows to streamline daily operational tasks

  • Develop scripts and code aligned with organisational standards

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in infrastructure management and automation

  • Experience with virtualisation and cloud infrastructure

  • Ability to write scripts using multiple programming languages

  • Strong collaborative and communication skills to liaise with stakeholders

Key Capabilities:

  • Strong knowledge of VMWare Aria Automation and Orchestrator

  • Proficient in VMWare vSphere

  • Skilled in SaltStack for configuration management

  • Programming skills in Javascript, Powershell and Python

  • Capable of delivering Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Anything-as-a-Service (XaaS) solutions

Essential Criteria:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in:
    • VMWare Aria Automation
    • VMWare Aria Orchestrator
    • VMWare vSphere
    • SaltStack
    • Javascript, Powershell and Python scripting languages

Desirable Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of IaaS, PaaS and XaaS with VMWare Aria Automation

  • Demonstrated experience developing complex workflows in VMWare Orchestrator

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Javascript, Powershell and Python
