Description:
Our client is seeking a Linux System Administrator to support and maintain core services within a High Performance Computing (HPC) environment. This role is suited for experienced professionals with strong capabilities in Linux system administration, high performance storage systems, and networking technologies. The successful candidate will be responsible for provisioning and configuring systems using Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies, drafting technical documentation, and collaborating with a range of stakeholders across projects.
Responsibilities:

Lead or support Linux and core services administration in HPC environments.

Provision and configure servers using lifecycle system tools and Infrastructure-as-Code.

Draft system support and security documentation.

Engage and collaborate with technical staff, engineering teams, and stakeholders.

Implement and monitor best practices to maintain system integrity and performance.
Requirements:

Minimum 4 years' experience in Medium-Large Enterprise or Government Linux system administration roles.

Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with Linux distributions (e.g., Red Hat, Rocky, Suse).

Familiarity with high performance storage systems such as NAS, Object storage, and parallel file systems.

In-depth understanding of networking technologies and topologies, especially in HPC contexts.

Capability to install and decommission HPC and associated systems hardware.

Essential Criteria:

At least 4 years’ experience in Medium-Large Enterprise or Government Linux System Administration roles.

Demonstrated system administration experience with Linux Operating Systems (e.g. Red Hat, Rocky, Suse).

Demonstrated experience with high performance storage systems (e.g. NAS, Object, On-premise cloud, Parallel file systems).

Thorough understanding of networking technologies and topologies, particularly those utilised in HPC and related systems.

Demonstrated capability to install and decommission HPC and related systems, hardware components.
Desirable Criteria:

Experience contributing to complex technical project outcomes for Medium-Large Enterprise or agencies.

Demonstrated experience with continuous integration tools (e.g. GitLab, Jenkins).

Demonstrated experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible, Puppet, Salt).

Demonstrated experience with Foreman or equivalent administration systems.
