Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Data Platform Administrator to provide specialist development, technical services and support for enterprise database management capabilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing and maintaining secure, high-performing database environments across on-premises and hybrid/cloud platforms. This position requires strong technical expertise in Microsoft SQL Server technologies, database performance optimisation, security configuration and reporting environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, install, configure and maintain on-premises MS SQL database instances and hybrid solutions ensuring high availability, security and performance
  • Monitor and manage database performance and replication, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks using index tuning and third-party monitoring tools
  • Develop, implement and manage database clustering and maintenance plans, including automated backups and disaster recovery strategies
  • Manage security configurations, including certificate management and access control
  • Manage and optimise SSAS, SSIS, SSRS and Power BI reporting environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues across hybrid and cloud environments, optimising configurations within Azure and AWS
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, changes and procedures across on-premises and cloud environments

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in database administration within complex enterprise environments
  • Practical experience with Microsoft SQL Server products including Always-On Availability Groups, SQL Replication and Azure/AWS SQL databases
  • Strong SQL/T-SQL and PowerShell scripting skills to support SQL Server and automate database management activities
  • Experience managing high availability, disaster recovery and performance optimisation strategies
  • Ability to work across on-premises and cloud-based database platforms

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience 5+ Years in a similar role.
  • Platforms Practical experience with Microsoft SQL Server products, including use of Always-On Availability Groups, SQL Replication, Azure/AWS SQL databases.
  • Programming Strong SQL/T-SQL, PowerShell to support the SQL Server software and streamline or automate daily database management activities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to database management
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment

Desirable Criteria:

  • Azure and DevOps Experience with DevOps processes and tools such as Azure DevOps and Git, Azure SQL Databases.
  • Experience with SQL Database development
