Job Title: Senior QA Automation Engineer (Coach/Player)

Duration: Initial 12 months

Location of work: Australia-based, Melbourne strongly preferred

Description:

Our client is seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer to uplift automation capability across a public-facing web platform and drive best-practice testing across the engineering team.

This role is a coach and player position, combining hands-on automation engineering with mentoring and guidance to improve quality practices across the broader engineering group. The successful candidate will contribute to building robust automation frameworks while helping embed quality and testing practices earlier in the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver hands-on automation across UI, API, end-to-end and data validation testing

• Enhance and maintain automation frameworks to improve reliability and speed

• Expand automated test coverage and support earlier testing within the SDLC

• Coach engineers on testing and automation practices, patterns and standards

• Contribute to improving overall testing maturity and quality culture across the team

Requirements:

• Strong experience with Playwright (preferred) or similar automation frameworks

• Solid background in UI and API test automation

• Behaviour-driven or data-driven testing experience

• SQL (MS SQL) for data validation and test data management

• Experience working within CI/CD environments

Nice-to-have:

• MongoDB exposure
• Experience in financial services platforms
