Description:

Our client is seeking Site Security Observers to provide site-based construction security oversight and assurance across security-sensitive construction environments. Working as part of a Construction Security team and reporting to a Site Security Manager, successful candidates will observe construction activities, monitor compliance with approved security controls, undertake verification activities, and support the protection of personnel, information and assets throughout the construction lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Observe personnel movements and activities within designated construction zones and controlled areas of a worksite.
  • Monitor construction activities for compliance with the Construction Security Plan (CSP) or equivalent approved documentation.
  • Inspect and audit materials, tools and equipment brought onto site, including identifying, reporting and containing suspicious or non-compliant materials.
  • Manage and operate site-based technical security systems, including CCTV, alarms and access control mechanisms where required.
  • Apply a risk-based, situational approach to identifying and escalating security issues, incidents or non-compliance in accordance with client requirements.
  • Complete accurate security logs, records and reporting activities to support assurance, auditability and continuous improvement.
  • Operate within the established chain of command and escalate issues promptly and appropriately.

Requirements:

  • Experience in either security and/or construction.
  • Experience working as part of a dynamic, multi-person operational team in security-sensitive or controlled environments.
  • Physical capability to stand for extended periods and lift equipment up to 30kg.
  • Ability to establish, maintain and promote effective working relationships with personnel and stakeholders.
  • Capability to work for extended periods with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgement and professional discipline.
  • Relevant experience or familiarity with Work Health and Safety (WHS) principles and site safety and risk management within active construction environments.
  • Strong observation, recording and reporting skills with a high level of accuracy, integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to operate CCTV, alarms and other security systems as required.
  • Construction Induction Training (White Card).
  • Working Safely at Heights certification.
  • Working in Confined Spaces certification.
  • Asbestos Awareness certification.
  • Prevent Crystalline Silica Exposure certification.
  • Ability to complete mandatory training prior to deployment.

  • Demonstrate strong observation, recording and reporting skills, maintaining high standards of accuracy, integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to operate Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV), alarms and other security systems as required.
  • Hold or obtain the following prior to commencement:
    • Construction Induction Training (White Card)
    • Working Safely at Heights
    • Working in Confined Spaces
    • Asbestos Awareness
    • Prevent Crystalline Silica Exposure
  • Hold and maintain an NV1 Security Clearance.
