Duration: Initial 12 months with up to 2 x 12-month extensions

Description:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to join their team in delivering critical services to support and manage OpenShift environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, deploying, managing and troubleshooting Red Hat OpenShift clusters and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable and secure infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, manage and troubleshoot OpenShift or other Kubernetes clusters in enterprise environments
- Assist developers with deployment, scaling, and management of containerised applications using GitOps and CI/CD pipelines
- Oversee OpenShift cluster management, including upgrades, configuration, resource allocation, and capacity planning
- Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Ansible, Terraform or Helm
- Ensure security compliance via vulnerability scanning, network segmentation, and role-based access control
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, manage project timelines and deliverables
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure business alignment and operational stability
- Maintain comprehensive documentation and contribute to a shared knowledge base
- Provide occasional out-of-hours support where required
Requirements:
- Proven experience (5+ years) in system administration, with 3+ years in large-scale Kubernetes environments
- Deep technical knowledge in OpenShift/Kubernetes, including networking, security and storage
- Experience working in government or highly regulated environments
- Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration (or willingness to obtain within 3-6 months)

Essential Criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering or related field, or demonstrated continuous professional experience of at least 5+ years in a large-scale ICT environment, and additionally 3+ years in a large-scale Kubernetes environment
- At least 5+ years of system administration experience, including OpenShift/Kubernetes cluster administration
- Extensive experience with Kubernetes administration (networking, security, storage, troubleshooting)
- Experience in a government or highly regulated environment, demonstrating compliance with ISM and Essential 8 standards
- Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration or equivalent certification, or willingness to obtain certification within 3–6 months
Desirable Criteria:
- Certifications in Cloud Platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or willingness to obtain within 3–6 months
