Description:

Our client is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer specialising in automation and virtualisation to support the Infrastructure Platforms team within a large government department. This role will be responsible for managing and developing key VMware and Aria infrastructure platforms to ensure stable and secure services for departmental and ministerial office staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop the Department’s Aria Automation, NSX, Aria Operations and Site Recovery Manager instances

  • Maintain and enhance the Department’s VMware vSphere, Cloud Foundation environments and server infrastructure

  • Produce technical documentation including design, build, and operations manuals

  • Share knowledge with team members and mentor junior staff

  • Support after-hours on-call requirements for on-premises infrastructure

Requirements:

  • Experience with Aria Automation, Aria Orchestrator, VMware NSX, Aria Operations, Site Recovery Manager, VMware vSphere and Cloud Foundation

  • Scripting and coding skills in PowerShell, PowerCLI, YAML, and JavaScript

  • Ability to develop comprehensive technical documentation

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for stakeholder engagement and internal team support

Key Capabilities:

  • Technical proficiency in virtualisation and automation platforms

  • Effective written and verbal communication for technical presentations and coaching

  • Ability to mentor and upskill junior team members

  • Adaptability in a dynamic ICT operations environment

Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in a few of the following technologies:

    • Aria Automation

    • Aria Orchestrator

    • VMware NSX

    • Aria Operations

    • Site Recovery Manager

    • VMware vSphere and Cloud Foundation

  • Demonstrated scripting and coding experience in a few of the following:

    • PowerShell

    • PowerCLI

    • YAML

    • JavaScript

  • Ability to produce design, build and operations documents for processes and procedures

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills to work with skilled technical people, including making presentations to staff and stakeholders and coaching staff

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in administering Veeam Backup and Replication
