Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Multiple Exchange System Administrator to support the ongoing management and enhancement of key communication platforms, including a hybrid Exchange environment.

The role will focus on maintaining and improving Exchange infrastructure, supporting migration activities to Exchange Online, and resolving complex technical issues across the environment. The successful candidate will also contribute to documentation, technical workshops, and collaboration with internal teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain existing Exchange Server infrastructure and Enterprise Vault archiving solution
  • Perform migration of mail data, including groups, to Exchange Online
  • Develop migration approaches and rationalise archive data
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues across the technology stack
  • Create and update technical documentation including:
    • As-built documentation
    • Design documentation
    • Migration plans
    • Disaster recovery documentation
    • Decommissioning plans
  • Represent technical expertise at project meetings
  • Facilitate technical workshops where required
  • Cross-skill with team members and support related teams such as service desk

Requirements:

  • Manage and support hybrid Exchange environments
  • Perform migration activities across Exchange platforms
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting across messaging and infrastructure systems
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams
  • Support operational and project-based ICT activities

Essential Criteria:

  • Expert knowledge of Exchange Server, Exchange Online, and configuration of hybrid Exchange deployments, including implementation, upgrades and day to day management activities in a complex multi-forest environment.
  • Proven experience in migrations including to Exchange Online, cross forest and from legacy Exchange versions.
  • High-level Exchange troubleshooting skills, including for mail flow, mail gateway technologies and on-premise/cloud-based resource connectivity.
  • High-level knowledge of Windows Server fundamentals (e.g. Active Directory, DNS, DFS etc), and Group Policy configuration (including Advanced Group Policy Management).
  • Experience with Australian Government IT Cyber Security processes including ISM, Essential 8 and ACSC hardening guides.
  • Strong experience in writing technical documentation including design documentation and standard operating procedures.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience with Arctera Enterprise Vault, Microsoft Purview Information Protection (MPIP), Microsoft Intune mobile device management and Intune policy.
  • Experience with broader Microsoft 365 services would also be beneficial.
