Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1

Duration: Initial 12 months with 2 x 12-month extensions

Working arrangements: Hybrid. Onsite for the first 6 weeks, then minimum 3 days per week onsite thereafter

Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Gateway Engineer Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement and support complex gateway and network infrastructure environments. The role involves providing expert technical advice, ensuring secure and reliable infrastructure operations, and working collaboratively with internal teams and third-party providers. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing gateway capabilities while contributing to strategic ICT outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, evaluate and implement infrastructure solutions to meet future demand
  • Provide expert technical support across build, test and deployment activities
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation including design and implementation plans
  • Assist in the development of strategies, policies and operational procedures
  • Participate in change management processes and communicate impacts of changes
  • Provide specialist technical and strategic advice to senior stakeholders
  • Share knowledge and mentor less experienced team members
  • Conduct research into emerging technologies and provide recommendations
  • Collaborate with service providers and stakeholders to enhance service delivery
  • Attend forums and meetings to influence outcomes and share information
  • Support innovation, continuous improvement and ICT strategy initiatives
  • Manage backup, high availability and disaster recovery solutions
  • Oversee patching and maintenance across all technical layers
  • Administer and operate gateway network infrastructure

Requirements:

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in designing, managing and maintaining internet gateway and/or large-scale data centre networking environments
  • Strong expertise in routing and switching infrastructure
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure
  • Knowledge of proxy solutions
  • Experience with Palo Alto firewalls
  • Familiarity with Infoblox DDI solutions
  • Experience with email security solutions
  • Knowledge of VPN technologies
  • Proficiency with network analysis tools

Essential Criteria:

  • At least five (5) years demonstrated experience in the design, management and maintenance of internet gateway and/or large-scale data centre networking environment.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience and technical proficiency in the design of services utilising F5/Blue Coat Layer 4-7 switching/load balancing and proxy systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and deployment of network infrastructure including Cisco Data centre technologies like Cisco ACI, Cisco Routers, nexus switches, routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, EIGRP.
  • Demonstrated experience with and/or detailed understanding of Palo Alto firewalls and IPS Solutions
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of VPN technologies, email and DNS (Infoblox) Solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and maintenance of system architecture and design documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience with or knowledge of Australian Government information security policies, the ASD Information Security Manual and Essential Eight.
