Duration: Initial 12 months with 2 x 12-month extensions

Location of work: ACT | Hybrid

Working arrangements: Successful applicants must work full time on site for 3 months or until they understand our client’s ICT landscape, requirements and project objectives. Flexible working arrangements may be considered afterward, subject to approval based on operational needs and ICT Contractor Working from Home Guidelines. Contractors must be on-site in Canberra at least 3 days per week. Remote work costs are the contractor’s responsibility.

Description:

Our client is seeking four Enterprise Architects to support a range of in-flight and upcoming ICT-related projects by providing specialist strategic advice and technical artefacts. The role will involve creating and evolving architecture models that inform the design, development and evolution of business processes and supporting ICT systems.

The successful candidates will work closely with business and digital delivery teams to ensure the design and delivery of secure and effective technology solutions that support current and emerging business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation and review of systems capability strategies that meet strategic requirements
  • Produce and evaluate conceptual, logical and physical solution designs for projects
  • Define architectural strategies, standards, guidelines, conventions and implementation solution patterns
  • Ensure compliance between business strategies, enterprise transformation activities and technology directions
  • Oversee technical aspects of system development and integration, including requests for changes and deviations from specifications
  • Apply contemporary data management standards, guidelines and architecture patterns
  • Establish and maintain governance of data patterns and standards
  • Review and endorse solution designs and data models
  • Transfer skills and knowledge to departmental staff
  • Ensure documentation is stored in accordance with recordkeeping policies and practices

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated application of The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) or equivalent architecture frameworks
  • Experience utilising Architecture Repository
  • Experience with Domain Driven Design, Cloud Architecture and Services Oriented Architecture (SOA)
  • Experience with modern Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) management
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to deliver architecture artefacts in accordance with required timeframes and performance criteria

Essential Criteria:

  • Consultancy level 6 - Manages the provision of consultancy services and/or a team of consultants. In own areas of expertise, provides advice and guidance to consultants and/or the client when delivering consultancy services. Engages with clients and maintains client relationships. Establishes consultancy agreements/contracts and manages completion and disengagement.
  • Enterprise and business architecture level 5 - Develops models and plans to drive the execution of the business strategy, taking advantage of opportunities to improve business performance. Contributes to creating and reviewing a systems capability strategy which meets the business's strategic requirements. Determines requirements and specifies effective business processes, through improvements in technology, information or data practices, organisation, roles, procedures and equipment.
  • Information security level 3 - Applies and maintains specific security controls as required by organisational policy and local risk assessments. Communicates security risks and issues to business managers and others. Performs basic risk assessments for small information systems. Contributes to the identification of risks that arise from potential technical solution architectures. Suggests alternate solutions or countermeasures to mitigate risks. Defines secure systems configurations in compliance with intended architectures. Supports investigation of suspected attacks and security breaches.
  • Stakeholder relationship management level 5 - Identifies the communications and relationship needs of stakeholder groups. Translates communications/stakeholder engagement strategies into specific activities and deliverables. Facilitates open communication and discussion between stakeholders. Acts as a single point of contact by developing, maintaining and working to stakeholder engagement strategies and plans. Provides informed feedback to assess and promote understanding. Facilitates business decision-making processes. Captures and disseminates technical and business information.
  • Systems design level 5 - Designs large or complex systems and undertakes impact analysis on major design options and trade-offs. Ensures that the system design balances functional and non-functional requirements. Reviews systems designs and ensures that appropriate methods, tools and techniques are applied effectively. Makes recommendations and assesses and manages associated risks. Adopts and adapts system design methods, tools and techniques. Contributes to development of system design policies, standards and selection of architecture components.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Proven experience working within large multi-national enterprises or Government agencies, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including business, application, information, and solution architects.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing Strategic Vision Statements, Business, Technology and Information Roadmaps, Architectural Plans, Infrastructure Architecture, Software Development Life Cycle Architecture and solution design artefacts.
  • Strong Stakeholder engagement skills, with a proven ability to clearly communicate and positively influence senior leadership and key business stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to guide and influence stakeholders, negotiate outcomes, gain acceptance of architectural designs, and assure the integrity of architecture deliverables.
