Description:
Our client is seeking two experienced Principal Java/Bespoke Software Engineers (Developers) to support, maintain and enhance a mission-critical enterprise application. Working within a highly skilled development team, you will contribute to the ongoing development of cloud-based and back-end Java, AWS and Oracle components, ensuring the delivery of reliable, secure and maintainable software solutions. The role also includes participation in an on-call support roster for a critical application.
Responsibilities:
- Develop enterprise-grade software using Java and Oracle technologies.
- Develop and maintain web-based user interfaces using ReactJS, CSS and HTML.
- Design logical and physical data models and implement solutions using Oracle Database.
- Implement CRUD operations using Java Object-Relational Mapping frameworks.
- Produce and maintain detailed design artefacts and technical specifications.
- Create and work with RESTful OpenAPI specifications, SOAP WSDLs and XML Schemas.
- Develop and maintain DevOps workflows using Jenkins, Git, Maven and Ant.
- Perform and build software releases in accordance with established processes.
- Provide technical advice and support to senior stakeholders.
- Participate in a rostered 24/7 on-call support service.
Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- At least 8 years' experience with Java, enterprise design patterns, JPA and Hibernate ORM. Java EE experience is advantageous, and reactive programming experience is advantageous.
- Experience developing Java web services, including SOAP and REST APIs, OpenAPI/XSD Schemas, XML/JSON and Spring/Spring Boot.
- Experience working with Unix/Linux and Bash.
- Experience with Maven lifecycle management, Continuous Integration, Unit Testing and System Integration Testing.
- Experience with major database technologies, including data modelling and stored procedures. Oracle experience is preferred.
- Willingness to participate in a 24x7 on-call roster.
- Experience with AWS development including EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, SQS and CloudFormation.
- Strong commitment to software engineering processes and the ability to develop robust and maintainable software.
- Proven ability to document technical processes.
- Experience implementing and maintaining automated testing.
- Ability to provide implementation and design feedback.
- Experience contributing to continuous improvement through process enhancement and documentation.
