Description:

Our client is seeking collaborative, curious and self-motivated APS6 Compliance and Investigations Officers who are committed to achieving results. Multiple opportunities are available across two work streams: compliance and investigations.

As an APS6 team member, you will work as part of a supportive team under limited direction, with the opportunity for autonomy and accountability. Your work will contribute to protecting the integrity of regulated financial and disclosure activities and directly contribute to public trust. The role provides an opportunity to further develop skills in analysis, problem solving and regulatory work while supporting a national purpose.

Responsibilities:

Senior Investigations Officer:

  • Apply a risk-based approach to conducting investigations into potential anti-avoidance schemes under relevant legislation.
  • Use data and intelligence tools to draw insights which proactively identify high-risk behaviours, entities and schemes, supporting further compliance action and contributing to the development of targeted compliance strategies.
  • Prepare high-quality briefs, reports and correspondence to inform decision-makers and contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of relevant policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and support to junior staff as required, fostering capability development and high-quality outcomes.

Senior Compliance Officer:

  • Independently review financial disclosure returns submitted by a range of participants to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Assess and review procedures on funding claims across the relevant cycle, including undertaking complex compliance assessments in accordance with relevant legislation.
  • Oversee and coordinate the accurate processing and payment of funding to eligible recipients, ensuring all payments are delivered in line with legislative and procedural obligations.
  • Lead the collection and analysis of information from diverse sources to support a risk-based approach to identifying and investigating potential non-compliance, including risks of foreign influence through financial contributions.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and support to junior staff as required, fostering capability development and high-quality outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in supporting or leading financial audits (or similar assurance activities), with strong organisational skills and a proven ability to manage tasks methodically, accurately, and in accordance with procedures.
  • Well-developed analytical skills with the ability to interpret moderately complex information, identify issues or risks, and provide timely, accurate, and well-informed advice to support decision-making processes.
  • Willingness to be flexible and adaptable as the section responds to the requirements of the legislative changes and guide junior staff as we navigate our reform journey.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively within teams and across business areas, and to build and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, deliver quality outcomes under pressure, and apply sound judgement to balance competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • A strong commitment to working collaboratively and contributing positively to a team environment, with the ability to lead by example and support the broader strategic direction of the organisation.
